American Girl made headlines following the September 2025 launch of Girl of the Year™ (GOTY) 2026 Raquel Reyes, a Missouri-based Hispanic-American girl, and the great-great granddaughter of AG fan-favorite Edwardian-era character, Samantha Parkington. Like all GOTYs, The doll comes with a book, The Diary of Raquel Reyes by Angela Cervantes, which takes place at her grandmother’s home on the New England coast.

The packaging artwork for her playline doll collection aims to pop her bright pink fashions and accessories forward. Nautical stripes of white, seafoam green, and bow-studded pink hint at her posh coastal story, and distingush the collection from the larger AG store planogram that skews more reds/pinks/cream colors.
